This is a little taster of my experience as a journalist so far.
To read more about what I’ve done and/or if you’re interested in contacting me for work, this is my CV:
I am working at Nottingham culture magazine LeftLion as their Editorial Assistant. I have learned to adapt to writing in their voice and editing for their house style. As well as this, I have helped manage their social media, wrote articles, and helped with editorial decisions. I am also the Editor of their 2019 student guide, where I have commissioned, written, and sub-edited articles.
For two years I was the Editor-in-Chief for Nottingham Trent Student Union’s official magazine Platform. I was responsible for promoting the brand, recreating the website, bringing it back into print and encouraging people to join. For my hard work, I was awarded the Outstanding Commitment award at the Student Publication Awards 2018 and was awarded Committee Member of the Year at the NTSU awards in 2019. More recently, I was Highly Commended in the Features category at the Midlands Media Student Awards, and also had a feature shortlisted in the SPA Best Human Rights Story category in 2019.
